6 August 2021

Chocolate chip cookies make a delicious treat for all of the family, plus if you follow this easy recipe they will turn out great every time! They are perfect for children’s parties, taking into work, or as a family treat! If you’d like to make your baking even easier, you should consider investing in a stand mixer or hand mixer to make your ingredient mixing a breeze.

What you will need:

Ingredient (makes 24 cookies):

  • 125g unsalted butter
  • 115g unrefined sugar
  • 110g white caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 220g self raising flour
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 250g Chocolate chips (or as many as you like)

Instructions:

Step 1: The first step is to preheat your oven. Set it to 200oC, fan 180oC or gas mark 4. Cover 2 baking trays in parchment paper.

Step 2: Make sure that you are measuring all of your ingredients correctly to ensure that your cookies turn out perfect.

Step 3: Get a large bowl and cream together the sugars and butter until it turns pale yellow and fluffy. You can do this by beating the butter and sugars with a wooden spoon. Or you can use a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes.

Step 4: Then add in your egg and vanilla extract, mixing it all together well until combined. Sift your flour and salt through a sieve before adding these into the mixture. Mix together until this forms a soft dough.

Step 5: Lastly, add in your chocolate chips to your bowl. How many you add is largely down to personal preference. Feel free to use white, milk or dark chocolate chips.

Step 6: Start separating your dough into roughly the size of a walnut, and roll these into ball shapes. Place these onto your lined baking trays, leaving a decent amount of space between each ball as of course your cookies will spread out during baking.

Step 7: Pop your baking trays into the oven and leave your cookies to bake for 6-7 minutes. If you prefer crunchier cookies, you can bake them for 10 minutes instead.

Step 8: Once finished baking, leave the cookies for around 15 minutes to cool. Now you can tuck in and enjoy!

And you’re finished!
